Techtronics - Be warned!

If like me you fail to read the returns policy, you`re in for a shock. I bought a Panasonic RV-40 from them but found it wasn`t compatible with my AV set-up. They charge £23.50 forl carriage and 15% restocking fee, which I find absolutely outrageous.

If you`re not sure whether your TV will show NTSC DVD`s, then do`n`t buy from here.

How long did you have the player for? I was under the impression that they have to give a certain amont of time by Law in which to return it for refund at no cost to yourself. I can understand them charging you for carriage although personally i would have posted it myself as it would have been cheaper, but to charge a restocking fee is ridiculous. I definately think that this is a case for trading standards. I am suprised that techtronics have any customers left, every forum i go to seems to have nothing but bad news about them.

I got a Samsung 511 from them. Had a problem and could never get through to anyone. You are put on hold forever then they cut you off while on hold. I will never deal with them again and they should be advoided.

I tested the player as soon as it arrived, and informed them the same day. I`m going to check with the Citizens Advice to clarify the issue.

This is Techtronics from www.techtronics.com, the same one that claims to have supplied DVD`s to NASA (why on earth they`d want to buy from there I`ve no idea..why would they want to watch DVD`s from other regions anyway???)

They are bastards. Got them to cancel my order twice after I found out it`d be 100£ more expensive than a rival.

Nonetheless they delivered the player and charged me for it - took abotu a month to get my money back.

Phil,

I bought a Yamaha s795 on 4th November. It was faulty from day one - audio drop-out on DVD playback. They have now repaired it 4 times and have now got the machine back for a fifth time. They will not give me my money back at all. They have blamed everything but the DVD player. I have checked my new Yamaha amp with a DVD from a competitor of Techtronics (they loaned me one as Tech. refused to). Leagally they are at fault as the machine is not fit for purpose or of merchantable quality. The Sale Of Goods Act states and I have checked with solicitors that they are in the wrong. However, the only way to a refund is the Small Claims Court, and even then I cannot guarantee my money back. I think if enough people get together we can get someone to take action. Local Trading Standards for Lincolnshire can`t help unless they receive a LARGE number of complaints. Lets start collating these complaints and maybe someone will take note. Any suggestions or help, please let me know.

Going throught the small claims court doesn`t cost a great deal, and as Techtronics are in the wrong they will be liable for any expenses that you incurr. Just the fact that they will have a county court summons landing on their door step is usually enough for things to be settled PDQ, but if things do go the full distance, they will end up with a count court judgment against them which won`t look to good on their part. You should be able to claim for ALL expenses you have incurred including postage costs.

Note if they do settle `out of court` then make sure that they refund you everything including the cost of submitting the claim.
