RE: Techtronics - Be warned!

As a conclusion, after several weeks of waiting I finally got my refund, and obviously they must have felt a bit guilty as they only charged me for the return carriage.

Maybe they`re not such a bunch of chimps after all......just kiddin.

RE: RCE on LG3200e

If you manage to set your DVD to region 0 then RCE disks will NOT work. This is how RCE works. The only way to get round RCE is to set the region to that of the disk.

RE: Movie plays with Jerks

You don`t say which software decoder you`re using. With my current system (PIII 500, 128MB RAM, 20GB HD, 32MB Matrox G400, Pioneer DVD-116 16-speed DVD-ROM), I still find differences between different players. So far, I would rate PowerDVD 2.55 and Cinemaster 2000 as being the smoothest, with PowerDVD having the edge on features.

RE: what is RCE?

RCE looks to see whether the DVD player is set to region 0. Those multi-region players which actually change the region to match that of the disc are unaffected.

Incedentally, I heard a story that one of the best-selling DVD players in the US couldn`t play RCE discs because it was set to region 0.

RE: Techtronics - Be warned!

Latest news form the Techtronics saga...latest time to take the machine out of the box, plug it in and try it.....ten to fourteen working days!!!!!

What are they doing? Aren`t they feeding them enough bananas?

RE: component video out player please-which one

When you say a component out, what exactly do you mean? Which plug on the TV do you want to feed the signal in to? To the best of my knowledge, TV`s have an aerial input, a SCART connector and occasionally a composite video input. Which do you want to use, or have you something else in mind?

RE: Techtronics - Be warned!

Some more interesting info. When I contacted Techtronics for a returns number, I was told someone would call me back the next day between nine and ten in the morning. At eleven, I rang the returns department and was told "we`ve been very busy"....oh dear.

I`ve now found out it takes five to seven working days to check the player when they get it back. What are they doing?

Are they so inundated with returns that they can`t cope?

Makes you wonder..

RE: Good experiences of Techtronics?

If the company is reputable, why does it have to charge a restocking fee on returned goods, knowing full well there is a chance it might not work? How many other mail order companies do you know that do it?

I can understand the carriage charge, but when they get it back, they`ll probably test it and then sell it on to someone else as new.

Buy your DVD player from somewhere that values your custom, not a place like Techtronics who only appear to be interested in making a fat profit, possibly at your expense.

RE: Techtronics - Be warned!

I tested the player as soon as it arrived, and informed them the same day. I`m going to check with the Citizens Advice to clarify the issue.

This is Techtronics from www.techtronics.com, the same one that claims to have supplied DVD`s to NASA (why on earth they`d want to buy from there I`ve no idea..why would they want to watch DVD`s from other regions anyway???)

Techtronics - Be warned!

If like me you fail to read the returns policy, you`re in for a shock. I bought a Panasonic RV-40 from them but found it wasn`t compatible with my AV set-up. They charge £23.50 forl carriage and 15% restocking fee, which I find absolutely outrageous.

If you`re not sure whether your TV will show NTSC DVD`s, then do`n`t buy from here.
