I got my Memorex DVD-MAXX1240 12x40 drive today from http://www.ebuyer.com

I think it gone up to £51 now though, Sorry!

RE: Good Quality scart to scart lead

I have always found http://www.keene.co.uk/ good for leads and stuff

RE: DVD Sale at Argos!!

Yes, It was the one with the amp and speakers. I must have written down the wrong letter!

I just had a Look at the review in my August 2000 issue of "What Video" and they gave it a 9/10 and a best buy!

DVD Sale at Argos!!

I saw a few DVD players on sale at Argos on Saturday. I`m not sure if they are any good or if they are sold at all Argos stores

JVC XV-M557 (3 Disc) - £149.99
Panasonic RV20EB - £249.99
Panasonic SA-HT80 - £399.99
Sanyo DVD-1500 - £179.99

There was also a Hitachi 505 for £169.99 but I would give it a miss (Ironduke!)

RE: What DVD player to buy???????????

You can get a Mico A980s for about £210 delivered.

It is region free, Macro disabled and does everything you want and more

Look here

http://www.multizonedvd.co.uk/acatalog/index.html

RE: VCD

Try copying them to RW discs. Some DVD players will play RW but not CD-R`s

RE: Widescreen choice advice

In the May edition of What Video & TV they reviewed a Goodmans W322NS 32" Widescreen for £500.

It got 9/10 and a best buy award! Worth a look

RE: Anyone still have the whattvandhifi March issue??

The Review in What TV & Video is as follows:

Picture - 9/10
Sound - 9/10
Features - 8/10
Easy of use - 9/10
Overall - 9/10

Looks good! It does not necessarily mean the 32" will be as good but probably will. Price listed as £1100 for a 28" seems allot though.

RE: SE7EN

I hear there is no macrovision on the "Se7en" DVD?

Is this correct?

RE: mico screenssaver

I have the Mico DVD and the screen saver will only appear if you are not playing anything

I doubt it will harm your TV if its just for the odd hour a day as new TV`s and monitors are not as likely to be effected as they used to be

RE: Bush DVDAV3k

The AV3K comprises of a Bush DVD2004 DVD play and 6 speaker surround speakers and retails for £300

The 2004 is region hackable and also is macrovision disabled!

It is mentioned in the July edition of "What Video & TV"

RE: Not everyone can afford dd 5.1 so prologic it will have to be!!

Yes it was the Aiwa Sub I was looking at.

Thanks for the info, I will proberbly give it a miss. It`s just I`m after a cheap electrical Item fix! I need one at least once a month!

RE: Not everyone can afford dd 5.1 so prologic it will have to be!!

I have a Aiwa pro-logic hi-fi which I think sounds quite good

What I want to know is it worth me getting an active sub? (I see Richer Sounds are selling one for £40)

I think I get a lot of base already

RE: Can a DivX movie be played on a DVD player?

I downloaded a Divx trailer for X Men and coverted it to a VCD.

I think it looked and sounded quite good on my DVD player

RE: Slightly off topic - But let`s hear it for the England boys tonight !!!

I come here to get away from all types of sport especially football!

The sooner its all on Sky the better!!

Start your own sport forum about kicking a leather sack on a bit of grass and let us get on with talking about something that matters!!

8cm DVD`s???????

It`s says in my Mico DVD player manual about 12cm/8cm DVD`s?

Are there any 8cm/3in DVD`s?

I have some 3in CD singles from the 80`s (can you still get them?)

If they did a dual layer, double sided 3in DVD could they not get a film on it? That would be great!

Anyone got any info?

Briley

RE: 32`` Widescreen Telly for £299

Yes, The latest estimate for analogue turn off is 10-15 years!

RE: People Looking For a Macrovision Remover

"Try www.maplin.co.uk Product code TB79 49 quid."

I bought the same thing from Keene for £55 and I found it worked fine for VHS-VHS but I sent it back as Maplin were doing it for £40

I ended up not getting it as I got a DVD player with macro disabled

http://www.keene.co.uk - P/N - VP260

The other ones I see for £25 charge extra for the adapter and cables!!

RE: The big 100hz/50hz debate - what`s your view ?

Did see that Asda or Tesco were selling a 28" Widescreen with 100hz for £400??

RE: Playing CD-R on Samsung 511

You could try RW discs? I know that a Panasonic and Toshiba will not play CD-R but will play RW.

The last ones I bought ( Mirror Media ) were only 99p!

RE: Are there any VCR`s which automatically disable macrovision?

"ET mode is only for American ntsc video"

I think you will find you mean EP mode (Extended play) which the US have had for some time but is now in some UK VCR`s. It allows 12 hours recording on a 4 hour tape

ET mode (Extended Technology) allow near SVHS quality to be recorded on normal VHS tapes

RE: Where is cheap for cables online?

I have always found Keene offer very good service and there prices are very good

http://www.keene.co.uk/

RE: Recorded VHS or Bought VHS?

I have a Mico A980 and I can copy to VHS fine but I still think a bought VHS tape is of better Quality.

DVD Player Under £150??????

A mate want`s a DVD player and is not willing to pay much (thinks DVD-R will be available soon. Ha! Ha!)

He just wants a region 2 which plays CD-R`s with good picture and sound.

He been looking at the JMB but I have heard it has Lip sync problems?
I was thinking of recommending the Cyberhome? Can it still be bought through WH Smith? as well as Richer Sounds.

All help appreciated

RE: Have all dvd`s got macrovision????and one for Clayts

Psst!

I hear Se7en has no Macrovision

RE: Are there any VCR`s which automatically disable macrovision?

Yes, I have found it mentioned in a Mag. Pity as I have over 300 tapes already so I don`t want to get too many more!

Thanks

Briley

RE: ADULT DVDS

www.yourchoice.co.uk

They are Ok but the site was in £`s but my credit card was billed in Gilders so paid about £4 more! If ordering send a cheque.

All DVD`s and videos are dispached from the uk so no customs problems.

DVD`s are £30 though!! Can they be bought cheaper??

RE: Are there any VCR`s which automatically disable macrovision?

Here is the e-mail I sent to "What Video & TV" Mag

I have a JVC J665 VCR at the moment and would like to get a JVC HRS 6700 at some stage.
If both these VCR`s are placed together am I going to get conflicts with the remotes?

Does the 6700 record in ET mode in Long Play? And will a recording in ET mode play back on another VCR with no ET?

Any help appreciated

Reply -

Yes, you will get conflicts with the remote.

ET mode works in LP.

ET recordings will not play back on a non-ET VCR.

Rgds
What Video & TV

Are they wrong?

RE: Are there any VCR`s which automatically disable macrovision?

">1. Can it record in ET mode in LP?

No - none of the SVHS ET machines can do this (I think!)"

Could you give it a try, as I have heard they can. It is very important to me that it works in LP as I back up most of my films in LP

Thanks, Briley
