Ebuyer - Customer Service - How do you contact them?

niteowl (Elite) posted this on Friday, 15th October 2004, 13:56

My mate brought a DVDR from them which turned out to be faulty. He wrote them an enote (about 4 days ago) and they havent replied. He also requeted an RMA number so he could return the item, but keeps getting your request is being processed. >:(

Anyone know how to get hold of them i.e. phone number. I was about to buy something , but my mate suggested not to until they got their act together and improved thier customer services.

I know he`s used them alot on the past and this is the first time he`s had to return something.

Do a Google search for it, that`s how I got it. Don`t expect to get an answer though. I`ve never had a problem when buying stuff, but I know others who have...

Just got an email from him saying they`ve responded with a returns code.

Quote:
To receive a full refund under THE CONSUMER PROTECTION (DISTANCE SELLING) REGULATIONS 2000 this
item must be requested in writing within 7 days of purchase. This item will have to be returned in
original condition and fit for restock.(a visual inspection can be made to the item ONLY)
With regards to software if the packaging is open it can not be returned
if your return does not meet the conditions a re-stocking fee could be incurred or the item
returned to you
Please note
If your request is out side the 7day cooling off period and we accept your item for return a 20%
restocking fee will be applied to the item (your item must be as new and unused)

If your item has no fault, we can not offer a collection or refund your postage

Your RMA request has been accepted by the Ebuyer Returns Department

I think he responded within the 7 days, but they didn`t reply until at least 3 days :/ And they might charge 20% of he value (and he pays for postage?) >:( It wouldn`t be too bad if he could have spoken to someone and got it sorted in a matter of mins! Or has he mis-read their conditions?

Thanks

If faulty then there is no problem - that is the standard sort of disclaimer they put on the emails for people returning under the distance selling regulations i.e. those that have decided they didn`t want the item (or it didn`t work with their hardware).

A favourite trick of theirs is not to refund the postage though unless you drop them another E-Note (as they only know the cost of the item and not the postage cost).

He did say it was faulty when he filled in the RMA request did he?

Hi Chris, In his original enote - he said the fan was very fairly noisey. He`d asked if this was normal - if it was, then it was an unacceptable standard to him and he`d like to return it. He also said the same in the RMA note. It would have been nice if they`d written back and said yes or no it was/wasn`t a fault., rather than send the standard email. He`s just concerned that if he sent it back they might claim its normal and he`d have to pay postage and lose 20% of the value :(

Incidentally I`ve posted his problem on the hardware section to see if others had similiar problem.

Cheers
