ADSL & Caller Display

andychamb (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 25th August 2003, 11:48

Can anyone suggest a decent DECT cordless phone that the caller dsiplay still works when you are enabled for ADSL?

I have an old Phillips Onis 2 handset that still works with caller display when the ADSL is connected via Pipex. Some time ago I bought (and returned) a new Phillips handset only to find out that the CLIP (Calling Line ID Packet or something) didn`t work, when I rang BT they said that CLIP isn`t compatible with ADSL! Anyone else been told this?

Despite this the CLIP does work on my old Onis 2, and when the PC is off, on a seperate CLIP dsiplay unit. Anyone else got a DECT handset that works with ADSL? I really need to get a new phone now.

Go to ADSL Guide and have a search through their message board for Caller Display. Lots of different suggestions there, mainly to do with changing to different filters rather than ditching your handset - might be worth a try.

Thanks for that. Looks like the microfilters are to blame. BT told me that it wouldn`t work!

Cheers!

I use the fairly pricey Fujitsu filters.. they work like a charm with Caller display.

I couldn`t think of anything witty.
