FREE External CD Rewriter!!!

BigA (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 2nd June 2002, 21:02

This is a bit of a strange one but here goes....

I have been looking for an external CD-RW for my laptop and looked on FREECOM`s website last week only to find the CD rewriter on the link below was listed as GBP 0.00

http://www.freecom.com/ecProduct_detail.asp?ID=49&nr=16026&type=PORTABLE&prodn=CD%2DRW

I ordered 1 and the total cost came to £7.62 (p&p cost)

Since then it changed back to the normal price of £159.99. However, I have just been back to the site tonight to find the same mistake so I ordered 3 more!!!!!!!

A strange one really but I thought I would let you know as a new kodak situation may be on the cards if enough of us buy one.

I`ve recieved a confirmation email with an order identification number stating where where the invioce will be sent!!!

I`m not holding my breath but hey, who knows!!!!!!!

Big A

No you don`t have to give CC Details. Which may be our downfall but at the same time at least that can`t charge you the normal price (£159.99).

I`ve tried the order tracking thing via the UPS page on their website for the order I placed last week but I can`t seem to figure out where the order ID number goes (I seem to remember having a problem tracking my order via UPS with the KODAK camara!!!)

I`m going to phone them on wednesday and see what they say anyway!!

Where are they based? It says it costs 25 Euros which to me works out at about £16 rather than £7 or so. Has anyone ever used them before?

Their T & Cs pretty much cover them : they have to agree to sell the item at the price (i.e. fat chance) : hope you guys make me eat my words, but this is nowhere near similar to the Kodak situation, as there is no mention of a contract being formed, nor money changing hands :

1. Acceptance and Amendment
(1) These general conditions shall (unless or except to extent Seller otherwise agrees in writing) apply to all tenders, offers, quotations, acceptances, deliveries and agreements relating to sale of goods by Seller and Buyer shall be deemed to assent thereto.(2) Each order is subject to these general conditions (in so far as not inconsistent with any special terms agreed between Seller and Buyer) which exclude any other terms and conditions, which the buyer might seek to impose.(3) No order for Seller`s goods (whether pursuant to quotation by Seller or otherwise) is binding on Seller until accepted in writing by Seller.(4) No other conditions or modifications of these general conditions shall be binding on Seller unless Seller agrees thereto in writing and Seller shall not be deemed to accept such other conditions nor to waive any of these general conditions by failing to object to provisions contained in any purchase order or other communication from Buyer.(5) No representative, agent, or salesman, who is not a director of Seller, has any authority to amend or waive any of these general conditions of other provisions of contract.(6) Neither these conditions nor any other provisions of contract shall be suspended, amended or waived except with written agreement of Seller.

Just ordered one myself and total came to 25.00 euros.
I can`t really see them sending them out to us for that price but you never know.
I don`t know if anyone will class these as bargains but I thought I`d just mention them incase.
On Bigpockets.co.uk there are Thompson Lyra Portable MP3 players(refurbished)no compact flash card going for £29.99.
100 cd-rs for £13.99.
A compact flash card 32mb(kodak branded)£19.99 and other things.
