BROADBAND BARGAIN!

webryder (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 15th May 2002, 15:41

Found this offer at pipex.co.uk and I think its the best deal for Broadband services I`ve seen so far!:

"Any customer subscribing to the Xtreme Solo service between 14th May 2002 and 13th June 2002 is invited to send their old (working) external dial-up modem, plus power supply and cables, to PIPEX and exchange it for a brand new Fujitsu FDX310 ADSL modem (excluding micro filters) worth £94!
Couple that with free connection worth £58.75 and what are you waiting for?!"

Also, they charge only £19.99 (£23.44) a month! This is the cheapest per month charge i have found and may go for this shortly, Thought it would be of use to others. :o)

You can buy broadband modems cheaper than that. I use Pipex & apart from some recent problems due (I believe to BT) I am happy. One of the cable companys are offering 3 months broadband for about£13-00 a month as a trial, if you don`t like it after 3 months you just cancel. I still prefer Pipex though.

I have just begun a trial with BT to use thier new Broadband service, which they offered me via an e-mail promotion.
They gave me a free ADSL modem, and free connection, and the monthly fee is £27. The trial lasts for 2 months, then if I decide to stay on, I keep paying £27 a month, and keep the equipment. If not, I have to send it back.

Will see how it goes, but I have only ever used Freeserve on a 56K modem at home, so this is like going from a Ford Fiesta to a Ferrari!

Geordie Pride,

Is there a code or reference you quoted to obtain that offer? BT`s website lists no such offer?

I registered at BT.com a while ago, and this offer was sent to me via e-mail. It said as I was registered at the site, I was being offered this trial.

The message I got had a link to a specific page on the BT website, and I simply had to fill my details in. Don`t know whether the link was specific to me or not.

The message I got with the link is at work, I will post it here tomorrow, and you can give it a go.

Also might want to think about Force 9 - £22.99 a month, but they charge an activation fee.

Hey,

The best offer is over at F2S, wires only is currently only £22.50 per month, and they run Linux servers :D Much more stable. Having a few problems with BT Wholesale at the mo, and getting a new pipe installed but generally they are very good.

Force 9 gave me the most problems of all my servers & had a bad customer service attitude. They also went from a free call service to a High rate line without informing me.

Here is the message I received offering me the Braodband Trial from BT.
However, I don`t know if it specific to customers registered at BT.com, and the link may be tied to my customer details:

"Dear Sir,

BT Broadband will soon be here and a select group of our BT.com registered customers are being invited to trial it first. As a valued customer we would like to give you the opportunity to apply for the trial today.

With BT Broadband you can access the internet up to 10 times faster than a conventional connection. It`s `always on`, so you don`t need to dial-up, and you don`t incur call charges for being online. Plus, BT Broadband allows you to surf the internet and talk on the phone at the same time.

To thank you for being a trialist we`ll supply free equipment and waive the connection fee (saving you over £100) if you participate and provide us with feedback about this new service. The equipment is easy to install yourself.

The trial starts in April 2002 and runs to 19th June 2002. You only have to pay a monthly fee of £27 if you pay by direct debit or monthly payment plan (otherwise £28). These charges will appear on your normal telephone bill.

Once the trial period is over, you`ll be free to keep the equipment if you choose to stay connected to BT Broadband.

To join the BT Broadband trial please click http://www.bt.com/rc/bbtrial/?id=1618.384.1.999600246367 now and have your BT account details to hand. "

Give it a try, at the end of the day, they can only say no can`t they?
