Now I know that this is nothing to do with DVD`s and that many people will have moved to braodband but I still feel that a one off payment of £50 for 12 months anytime internet access must be a bargain !!!!

That is just over £4 per month and the contention ration is only 5:1 which means it should be faster than many of the other major ISP`s

If you are paying upto £14.99 per month then take a look at this from GioInternet.

Sorry forgot to add - limited to first 5000 customers .

You can`t beat a good bargain !!!

Price is certainly tempting, not used them before, but they get some very poor reviews over at ISP Review:

Cynical old me thinks this `offer` is designed to raise cash quickly: 5000 x £50 = quarter of a million quid...

Anyone used them before?

I used Gio for a while for dual-channel ISDN, toll-free at about £27 a month (before I could get ADSL). Chucked them after a month or so, constantly getting engaged tones and then told (on premium rate support line) that it was BT`s fault for not allocating enough lines at my exchange. Strangely, had no such problems with subsequent ISP, on the same BT line. Still, maybe I was just unlucky

On a similar kind of note, are there any other reliable ISP`s offering dial up for less than £15?

I`d always be wary of these `too good to be true offers.` I got my fingers burnt a few years ago on a similar scheme. In the terms and conditions they often state you wont get a refund if they can`t operate the service because of problems caused by a third party, i.e. BT. They then cancel the service claiming `BT-related` issues and bugger off with your money.

But, if you are a gambling man.............

I guess I am a gambling man. I signed up yesterday and so far so good!

I didn`t have to change my email address either as I still seem to be able to get my freeserve emails!

I have used the Gio adsl service for over a year and while I did have a couple of problems in the first month or so I have had no problems since.

I have had another email from them today saying that there are only 423 out of 5000 accounts left and that the price will soon rise to £60 for 12 months.

If I was using a dialup account I would definately give this a go.
