RE: Deepdiscountdvd `BOGOF` Boxsets - Hunter, Hercules, Xena.

Hello Matthew,

If I were you, I`d go for the first series of `Hunter as the freebie. And then go back and order the other two series (for which my mastercard has just been debited a pitiful £13.03!!) to avoid customs charges. You won`t regret it. Definitely one of my favourite series from the `80s.

Deepdiscountdvd `BOGOF` Boxsets - Hunter, Hercules, Xena.

I don`t recall seeing this Boxset `BOGOF` offer mentioned in this forum, so it`d be a shame not to post it.

Cut`n`paste the following URL, as I just can`t get it to work as a link:
"http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/promotion/buyAndGetFree_form.cfm?promoName=abb2g1_0806&page=0"

It will take you to the `deepdiscountdvd` site where you`ll find a lot of TV series at bargain prices. With BOGOF on TOP of those prices, some are just too good to miss.

I`ve gone for the first two series of `Hunter` @ $17.99 + $5.95 shipping. With an exchange rate of 53p to the dollar, that works out at £12.70 for the first two seasons of a great series! Also gone for the first 2 seasons of `Xena`. The great thing is that most of these will come it under that cursed £18 customs limit.

The Highlights? Well, try:

21 JUMP STREET (Johnny Depp) -Seasons 1 to 5 -from $17.99 to 26.99.

3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN -Seasons 1 to 5 -from $17.99 to $24.99.

THE COMMISH (pre-"Shield" Michael Chiklis) -Seasons 1 & 2 @ $35.99 each.

CRIME STORY (Michael Mann)-Seasons 1 & 2 @ £23.99 each.

HERCULES-LEGENDARY JOURNEYS -Seasons 2 to 6 @ $17.99 each.

HIGHLANDER -Seasons 1 to 6 @ $29.99 each.

HIGHLANDER-THE RAVEN @ $29.99.

HUNTER -Seasons 1 to 3 @ $17.99 each.

PROFIT -Seasons 1 @ $17.99.

XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS -Seasons 1 to 6 @ $29.99 each.

Also running:

DOOGIE HOWSER MD -Seasons 1 to 4 -from $17.99 to $23.99.
GREATEST AMERICAN HERO -Seasons 1 to 3 -from $17.99 to 23.99.
GROUNDED FOR LIFE -Seasons 1 & 2 @ $17.99 & $23.99.

RE: "Outer Limits" bargains at HMV online

Amazon.co.uk now have Series 1 at £16.97 (post-free), and Series 2 at an amazing £9.97 (plus postage). And the latter is WELL worth it, if just for "Demon with a Glass Hand".

Come on, you owe it to yourself!

"Outer Limits" bargains at HMV online

You`ll find both classic series at bargain prices at "www.hmv.co.uk"

Brilliant first Series of 32 episodes on 8 discs for only £19.99.

Second Series of 17 episodes on 5 discs for only £12.99.
Not as good as the first series, maybe, but does have those great Harlan Ellison episodes - "Soldier" and "Demon With a Glass Hand" - that so obviously influenced James Cameron`s "Terminator", and that fine 2-parter "The Inheritors".

Too good to miss, if you ask me....

RE: Sharp 80gb Hard-Disc Dvd Recorder for only £199.77 - grab it while you can!

It might be worth waiting for the Sharp DVHR350H (same machine with a 120gig harddrive)
which EmpireDirect are advertising as "due soon" for £299.77. Another 40gig for just £35
more has to be worth thinking about.

Sharp 80gb Hard-Disc Dvd Recorder for only £199.77 - grab it while you can!

My best buy in YEARS has got to be the Sharp DVHR300 hard-drive DVD recorder that I bought to replace my video recorder.
Last year I got it on-line, from Comet, for £299 - when it was selling for £599 elsewhere!

Now you can get it from:

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/html/SHA-DVHR300H.htm - for only £199.77.....

Details are as follows -

Sharp DVHR300H - Dvd Recorder Dvd-Rw 80gb Hard-Disc

This is a really great machine that gives you excellent recordings that you can then burn to DVD (and play back) on the same machine.
Although it`s region2, you can make it region-free by downloading a patch and flashing the hardware. To do this, visit the indispensible Sharp DVHR300 Forum at - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/11/81845 - and you`ll find details of where to find the patch, and how to use it.

This really is just TOO good to miss!

RE: Free Shipping is back at DVD Soon.

The "Free Shipping" lasts until the end of the year - so one can`t complain at that!

Region 1 bargains include the wonderful "Laura" for only £4.81 - with deleted scene, audio commentaries and two 45-minute docs on both Gene Tierney and Vincent Price. Unmissable! Do yourself a favour....

And staying with Vincent Price - 2 of my favourites: "The Abominable Dr.Phibes" and "Dr.Phibes Rises Again" - at only £3.37 each. Pity I`ve already got them. Oh, and "The Haunted Palace/Tower of London" at £5.40.

Last off, season one of the brilliant "Larry Sanders Show" for a mere £12.27. And I`m sure I saw it yesterday for only £10.50 - I really must get into the habit of jumping in when I see a real bargain....

RE: 10 Adult DVD`s for just £38.90! PLUS A BONUS!

Shouldn`t the heading read "10 Adult DVD`s! PLUS A BONER!" ?

3rd Rock bargains at Play.com

Play.com has series 1 & 2 of 3rd Rock from the Sun at £13.99 each delivered,
and series 6 (the last) at £9.99.

Definitely give the Ist (and best) series a try if you`ve somehow missed this on tv.

DVDSoon cheapos rides again!

Just a few more bargains at DVDSoon.

If you like Vincent Price in manic mode, you`ll find the following at C$6.98 - just £3.14.

The Fall of the House of Usher
The Pit and the Pendulum
Masque of the Red Death/The Premature Burial
Dr Phibes Rises Again. (You`re too late for "Abominable Dr Phibes", though!

And some great box sets -

Soap - series 1 & 2 at C$26.98 - £12.13 each. Go on, treat yourself!

And last, but not least, The Larry Sanders Show 1st series at C$36.98 - £16.63

RE: DVD Recorder with 80GB HDD & timeslip at £299

If you`re getting that dialogue about the latest version of acrobat, click "ok", close the box and proceed as normal. The PDFs take a while to load but should get there eventually.

However, if you try the following link below, you`ll find that it`s getting some really good response in the forums. And yes, I have just ordered one!

RE: Jackie Chan`s "Police Story 3" -subtitled- for only £5.46!

Well, Stuart, this is definitely the original "Police Story3" aka "Supercop", and not "Supercop2".

Mike - I`ve got no problems with the disk as I don`t mind the lack of stereo. And the Deltamac version went on eBay for 26 quid a
couple of weeks ago, with the following comments:-.

Video Aspect Ratio: 2.35:1 (Letterboxed) - in better condition than the Mega Star DVD
Audio: Cantonese and Mandarin synch sound languages - Original Dolby Digital - NOT the terrible 5.1 remix the Mega Star DVD had
Optional Subtitles: English, Traditional & Simplified Chinese
Reversible Cover
Trailer
Interactive Menu
Scene Selection
All Region - NTSC
DVD Released by Deltamac

With regard to the Disney dubbed version, the thought of Tom Jones singing "Kung Fu Fighting" on the soundtrack IS a little bit
frightening!

You can`t go wrong at this price, can you......

Jackie Chan`s "Police Story 3" -subtitled- for only £5.46!

If you look at DVDpricecheck, and leave it at that, you`ll thinkthat only dubbed Disney region 1&2 versions
are available of this great film. Well, just try - www.dddhouse.com - and you`ll find subtitled region 0
versions from both MegaStar and Deltamac (which I believe is supposed to be the better edition) for only
HK$40+$30 s&h. Now, that`s £3.12+£2.34 for airmail. £5.46! My copy arrived this morning and I couldn`t
wait to see that wonderful stunt where Michelle Yeoh, hanging from a speeding van, flips out of the way of an
approaching bus with split-second timing. Breathtaking!

Why on earth did Disney release a dubbed-only version? Can`t be cost, surely - or do they really have
such a low opinion of the public`s taste and intelligence? And off on a tangent, I don`t know if any of you
caught it on tv recently, but that wonderful french swashbuckler "Le Bossu" (The Hunchback) is only
available in a French-only NO-SUBTITLES version. Now doesn`t that strike you as insane? The film was a
great international success, and a subtitled version is obviously available, so why not release THAT and
increase the potential market a thousand-fold. Both decisions are patently absurd.

And before I go, if you haven`t bought "SOAP" yet, do it now! I`ve spent the last month watching one
episode a day so that I could really savour it, and it`s even funnier than I remember. And DVDSoon is the
place to go.

Help! DVDSoon registration problem

Has anyone managed to register with DVDSoon of late?
I`ve been trying for 10 days now and can`t get any reaction at all.

I tried preordering a box-set, filled in all my details on their registration page, and received the following on-line message -

"In a few moments, you should receive an e-mail, to the address you
indicated below, confirming your registration and password."

Needless to say, I`ve heard damn-all from them since. I`ve e-mailed them three times
at the info@ address and re-registered three more times, but no reaction at all.....
What an extraordinary way to run a business. I can`t order until I get the "registration
and password" - and they`re not providing it. Has anyone else had this problem?
How am I supposed to order before they finish with their free shipping offer?

Any suggestions or explanations would be very much apppreciated.

1st series of legendary "SOAP" (with Billy Crystal) for less than £13!

I`m re-posting this as the original heading

**"Confused? you won`t be..." - 10 hours of SOAP for less than £13!**

could have referred to ANY old cr*p!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soap" was, IMHO, just about the funniest tv program that`s ever been.
Well, next month you can get the whole of the first series from DVDSoon - for the
mind-blowing pre-order price of $27.98 CAD, s&h free. That`s 600 minutes of sheer
bliss for an incredible £12.67! Worth it, if just for the great line from a young Billy Crystal -
"Remember when we were kids, and mom gave us plastic razors for Xmas?
Well, I used to shave my legs....."
RE: Choices Direct.Any good?
ChoicesDirect seem fine, but I should point out that DVDSoon have it for
$89.98 Canadian, which is only £40.77- s&h free!
"Firefly" from DVDSoon - customs friendly?
If you search on the DVDSoon site, you`ll find that they`ve got Josh Whedon`s
wonderful (and unbelievably cancelled) "Firefly" due out next month - on pre-order
for $42.98 CAD. That`s £19.47, which is just above the magic customs limit.
Now, it has been mentioned that DVDSoon is customs friendly - does that mean that
they mark it at just under £18, or that it`s a gift? I`d hate to get stuck with
duty+VAT for being a bit over the limit.
