RE: Spooks series 4 £14.99 @ Play

Brill - out of stock, but ordered anyway :) Cheers pat-w

RE: Siemens HHB-610 Bluetooth headset was £49.99 now £9.99

Ordered it - arrived Friday. What a piece of c##p. "Upto" 3 hours talk time; 150 standby, and no USB charger and the car charger isn`t available any longer..... oh and it doesn`t work - it won`t switch on! Great bargain - not!

RE: Siemens HHB-610 Bluetooth headset was £49.99 now £9.99

Site doesn`t seem to be secure - not good

RE: ALDI Colour PIR Surveillance Camera - Poor Quality Control ?

OK - perfect is relative - normally to the price one pays for goods (unless its anything made by Philips!) Your not really gonna expect to get the quality of a £200 CCTV camera for £30, are you?

RE: ALDI Colour PIR Surveillance Camera - Poor Quality Control ?

Blimey, no disrespect Philip4242, but you don`t want much from a piece of electronic equipment and associated gubbins for the price of a chinese takeaway, do you ;)

RE: Epson Picturemate 100 - £40 delivered - great Christmas present(s)?

Now seems to be back to £99.99 at PCW?! Still, it does say you can "upgrade"to a 100 plus and get a free carry case for just £85.50! :D Yup - they really are c@@P!

RE: 2 Free Golf Balls

RE: Dell Laptop £339

RE: Philips DVD Recorder - £129.99 @ Sainsburys

Well FWIW, we had one of the first Philips 890 DVDR recorders, bought from RS, I think in December 02. A mere 32 +RW disks (transfers of all the home vids from VHS) and probably a similar number of other recordings later, it all began - Lock-ups; recording failures; power-offs (and ons!); corrupt disks; timer failures; numerous error codes; 20+ coasters and finally, totally useless customer service, based on a "denial" philosophy from Philips themselves, we gave up and it was returned in March 03 for a full refund.... Not surprised said the Manager in RS "they are rc[at]p - I have more than 50 broken in the back waiting to be collected by Philips!" In Dec 03 we bought a E50 Panasonic. 700+ hours of recordings later, we`ve had two failures - one where a scratched RAM disk confused it and it went into recover mode (it`s fine now after a "brasso" treatment!) and the other when we had a power failure. It has recorded to the most expensive and the cheapest -R disks and has rejected not a single one. In March 05 we bought an E95 with a 160GB hard drive. This has recorded more than 1000 hours on the HD and probably 300+ on the DVDR and we have not had a single failure of any kind or firmware issue. Take a look at CD Freaks. In the Philips DVD section has a sticky thread called "List your Philips DVDR issues here." You`ll note that many people have not and do not have problems with their Philips machines. Unfortunately, a far greater number report they have... Oddly, there there isn`t a sticky called "List your Panasonic DVDR problems here.." in the Panasonic DVDR section - enough said really.

RE: free £8.75 voucher from CDWOW

Brill.... thanks to the OP

RE: 50 DVD-R spindle packs...£9.01 from Staples!!! - Now BOGOF!

RE: Kwik Save COMPACKS DVD-101 RECORDER £69.99!!!

Sounds about the same as the Philips DVD recorder that was a pile of poo for £450 some three years ago. But I bet it doesn`t break-down as much!! :D

RE: TGI Friday - 2 for 1 (Main Meal)

Probably will get flamed, but I do hope that it`s not just a way to collect email addresses :(

RE: Dyson DC07 for £132 at Argos

We`ve had a DC01 for five years, which replaced the original one after two and a half years, following a cable splitting internally. The machine was replaced with a brand-new one in 48 hours by Dyson.

I`ve reserved one of these just to pick-up today in case the DC01 packs up. At this price you can`t go wrong, so thanks to the original poster.

RE: Indiana Jones Trilogy DVd - £19.97 @ Tescos

and it`s £17.99 via Tesco`s Jersey :D

RF to AV in - Portable DVD???

My son has bought a 7" DVD player from Boots this afternoon believing that it had a TV tuner built-in - that convinced the wife!

Anyone know of an external TV tuner that can be plugged into the AV socket of said portable DVD - if not, back it goes!!! :D

RE: HP 4mp Camera + Memory Card + Photograph Printer £99

Why are you bothering? The camera is rubbish and the printer costs a fortune to run! Carp is crap at whatever price you sell it. How do they manage to do it one wonders??

RE: BARGAIN 15" LCD???????

I`m using one right now xeno666. :) Primarily, it was bought to replace the old crappy CRT PC monitor and the fact that it has a TV was really a bonus.

The TV quality is not bad, although we`ve only got it rigged-up to a cheap indoor aerial at the mo. Refresh rate is fine with little blurring, colour is good and contrast is OK. There isn`t a single dead pixel either. Using a DVD as a source, it`s much better although I`m not really that convinced that LCD/TFT/Plasma technology currently runs anywhere near the quality of a really good CRT.

As a PC screen it`s fantastic - much, much brighter, sharper and, oddly far more accurate colour that the old monitor, which is great with the amount of photo manipulation I do!

We got ours on a price match with Richer Sounds @ John Lewis at £299 about two months ago, so I`d say for £259, thats good value. Mind you, you get the five year TV guarantee with JL - that`s got to be worth £40! 8)

RE: Blah... discount codes

Quote:
Yeah, they just charge your card, TELL you it`s been shipped, don`t send anything, wait for you to chase it up, hassle them and finally get one DVD through the post 2 months after they`ve taken payment.
And the second one (Blue Planet) STILL hasn`t arrived.

Of course, that`s only my experience, but out of two orders, BOTH haven`t run smoothly, so keep an eye out and don`t be afraid to badger them.

J.

Most odd - I`ve use them for a couple of orders, and they`ve arrived no problem. One was the Blue Planet!

RE: Music - Help!!!!

Quote:

Oh Dear - "well sexy"??? You must be the same age as my son!! I`m sure "she would" as well!!

RE: Music - Help!!!!

If only :( What do you think it is???

Music - Help!!!!

RE: Argos - Cheap TVs
