This movie has all the normal Hitchcock elements that make it a classic suspense movie. This is the original movie that has been remade many times with different settings. Jimmy Stewert plays an adventurous photographer who is confined to a wheelchair after an accident at a race circuit. Bored and restless, he takes to observing his neighbours and begins to suspect that one of his neighbours has murdered his wife. His rich girlfriend, Grace Kelly, often comes to visit him and the pair become convinced that the murder has taken place. This film has a wicked blend of suspense and paranoia that make it thrilling. Jimmy Stewert is excellent as always. The picture is fantastically restored from its original print. Great detail and sharpness. Naturally there is some aging of the print but overall its a great effort. The sound is a decent mono track. A 5.1 track certainly would have done some good as the background score is very important and creates a tense atmosphere. There are extras including a trailer and a look at the making of and restoration of the movie. A great dvd overall. Essential viewing for all movie fans. Rent first and if you like it, buy it
