Pet update posted at 16:07Bookmarkable link for this item

Okay, so its only been four days since we last updated you on the forthcoming release of Carlton Visual Entertainment's titles, but fans of Auf Wiedersehen Pet are a devoted lot who want to know whether these will contain extras, and if they will feature the original edits. So here is the latest info on the additional content and whether we will see the edited video cuts or what was shown on screen all those years ago.

Series 1 Volume 1 will feature the episodes If I Were a Carpenter, Who Won the War Anyway and The Girls They Left Behind. Series 1 Volume 2 contains Suspicion, Home Thoughts Abroad and Accused. Series 1 Volume 3 has the episodes Private Lives, Fugitive and Alien, and Series 1 Volume 4 will have Last Rites, The Lovers, Love and Other Four Letter Words, and When the Boat Goes Out. All of these will come with a stills gallery, trivia notes and filmographies.

Series 2 Volume 1 will feature the episodes The Return of the Seven: Part One and Part Two, plus The Law For the Rich. Series 2 Volume 2 will contain Another Country, A Home From Home and Cowboys. Series 2 Volume 3 should have No Sex Please We're Brickies, Marjorie Doesn't Live Here Anymore and Hasta La Vista, whilst Series 2 Volume 4 will have Scoop, Law and Disorder, For Better or Worse and Quo Vadis Pet. As for the first series, each disc will contain a stills gallery, trivia notes and filmographies, with the exception of the last title, which will contain a stills gallery and 30 question trivia quiz.

Now the next bit of news may prove unsatisfactory for some, and concerns the issues surround what version of the episodes we will get to see on DVD. Apparently due to mastering and other technical reasons, Carlton can't confirm exactly what we will get edit wise, but they really are doing their best to keep the episodes as close as possible to the original broadcast as they physically can.

I know I will be the only one saying anything about this but I think it's a shame if they are cut. I watched the repeats a few years ago on 4 and they slashed off the ending! I remember that when it was shown years ago that a memeber of the cast died before they finished filming so the final few episodes only showed his back played by a double. These episodes just were not in the repeat and thus it ended too suddenly. I thin they should be kept in.
