The magnificent seven posted at 16:14Bookmarkable link for this item

Today really does seem to be TV day, as next up we have Carlton Video who have already announced two titles for April, both from the goggle box. Out on 15th April is Pollyanna starring Amanda Burton, Pam Ferris, Kenneth Cranham and Georgina Terry. This hasn't actually been aired yet, but it is due to make an appearance on ITV1 this Spring, hence the lack of pictures for it. No details on sound or video, but hopefully this will at least feature an anamorphic transfer and Dolby Surround soundtrack, plus biographies and a stills gallery for the RRP of £15.9.

Based on the classic novel by Eleanor H Porter, this is the timeless tale of a little girl who goes to live with her rich but bitter aunt after the tragic death of her beloved father. Her sunny nature, good humour and determination to look on the bright side of life prove to have an astonishing effect on all around her. Pollyanna's irrepressible enthusiasm for life brightens up the sleepy village of Beldingsville particularly when she introduces the inhabitants to the Glag Game, which demonstrates that everyone can find a silver lining in the darkest cloud.

Then starting on 28th April, just one month later than we originally predicted and cunningly timed to appear alongside the new series is the first and second seasons of comedy classic Auf Wiedersehen Pet. Starring Tim Healy, Kevin Whately, Jimmy Nail, Timothy Spall, Gary Holton, Pat Roach and Christopher Fairbank, each disc will come with a full frame transfer and Dolby Stereo soundtrack for the retail price of £12.99.

Starting on 28th April then, we have Series 1 Volume 1, which follows the gang of Dennis, Neville, Oz, Barry, Wayne, Bomber and Moxey in episodes If I Were a Carpenter, Who Won the War Anyway? and The Girls They Left Behind. Series 1 Volume 2 includes Suspicion, Home Thoughts From Abroad and The Accused, whilst Series 1 Volume 3 contains Private Lives, The Fugitive and The Alien. Lastly Series 1 Volume 4 has Last Rites, The Lovers, Love and Other Four Letter Words, plus When the Boat Gets Out.

In addition to these, you will be able to buy the first complete series in a 4-disc Series 1 Mini Tool Box Set for £44.99. Then following on 27th May comes Series 2 Volume 1 with The Return of the Seven Part One, The Return of the Seven Part Two and A Law for the Rich. Series 2 Volume 2 has Another Country, A Home From Home and Cowboys, whilst Series 2 Volume 3 contains No Sex Please, We're Brickies, Marjorie Doesn't Live Here Anymore and Hasta La Vista. Whilst lastly Series 2 Volume 4 has Scoop, Law and Disorder, For Better For Worse and Quo Vadis Pet.

This series will also be available as a 4-disc Series 2 Mini Tool Box Set for £44.99, and on the same day you will be able to get both entire series in a special Collector's Edition Tool Box for £74.99.

I have always been a great fan of Auf Weidersen Pet.I believe that the second series was much better than the first one.
Some years ago VCI releases the complete second series on video. However, I was very disappointed to note that some of the scenes were edited out and spoiled the whole enjoyment. What I would like to know is whether the DVD versions will be the full entire eposides as screened on television or wiil they be the edited versions as released on video. If the latter I would definitely not be buying those. This will be a great disappointment to me as I would really like to buy these DVD if they are the full version.
