I Just Can`t Believe It, having only waited all of my life for this moment I just thought i`d check out Star Wars Ep IV - A New Hope, before i went to the boozer only to find out it`s the correct case, correct DVD Label but......wrong bloody film. Mine`s got Episode VI ROTJ on it instead, damn fools. >:(

Anyone else got probles or is mine a collectors item?

PS: It came from Sendit.com

Does it have an Irish Film Certificate on it (or sticker containing the BBFC `PG` label over the Irish cert)?

If so, then I`ve heard lots of reports of this fault. Bloody useless quality control >:(

It seems like it is contained in copies shipped to Ireland at the moment (where Sendit.com send their packages in excess of £18, all others via Jersey)

You mean you have two copies of ROTJ but one of them has A New Hope label stuck on it?

That is some bad quality control, just hope its not to wide spread.

Mine is correct, however I don`t ever remember there being so much purple in A New Hope? Noticeable mostly on the desert scenes.

Why is it that DVD`s have never experienced the collectability of vinyl and CD`s?
Granted a different medium, but had this kind of thing happened with a record or Cd, it would be worth a packet! I once had a copy of The Sex Pistols` My Way, which had Airport by the Motors on the B-side - another quality issue, yet, it bagged me £60!
Then there`s the issue of original releases - get yourself a white label or (harking back to the pistols again) an EMI release of Anarchy in the UK, you got yourself some black cash, yet with DVD`s, the value of an original is completely depreciated as soon as the special edition is released.

V, I`d say that could be a new topic ;)

I think it`s because CDs haven`t really improved since the birth of the format. Vinyl hasn`t been about quality ever, it seems a personal preference.

But DVD is all about quality, and perhaps just now it is reaching it`s peak (both THX 1138 and the Star Wars Trilogy look absolutely remarkable considering their age).

Some DVDs are worth a lot of money, the rare ones, but I think it is a medium that caught on too soon to be "worth" anything in the future. But we won`t know for at least another decade anyway... :D
