New Panasonic & Philips DVD Recorder Reviews!!
I have just received my October issue of What Video and they have a review of the Philips DVDR890 and Panasonic DMR-30 DVD recorders.
They gave them both Best Buys!
Philips has added a 6 hour recording time, this time which is the same as the Panasonic. With the Philips you have the option of paying £100 extra for i Link for DV camcorders.
As the Panasonic has no i link this will probably sway you towards the Philips if you have a DV camcorder, but for me the "Time Slip" of the Panasonic which lets you record a program and watch a recording on the same disc at the same time, does it for me!
I also thought I should mention that it said about the old Panasonic E20 model that it would not work with cheap, unbranded DVD-r`s but this new model worked fine with a Princo blank.
If you can wait there is an even better model from Panasonic coming!! Its the DMR-HS2 which is the same but adds a 40 GB hard disc!! Its also able to record from the hard disk to DVD-R at 2 - 12x normal speed. £1000 though!

I have recently purchased both a Panasonic and a Philips. They are both very good machines. But I think that DVD-R will get ahead.

Bloody Hell!
Yes. With a hard disc it would be great! Record on hard disc, edit it and then burn on DVD-R, nice!
Have you seen it for sale yet? says £1000 in What Video but no release date?
