Just joined 20 mins ago. Just had my Talktalk application confirmation and it says. Total = £22.49, this includes £1.50 for caller display. Have also been told that with a MAC(migration authorisation code) it could be up and running in as little as 5 days.

I signed up....

Oh the joys.....

Wanted Caller ID.... 2 weeks to get it... excuse... "Our screen hasn`t been updated, I can`t do anyting yet"

Got Voice mail when I didn`t want it... Called up... "Our screen hasn`t been updated, I can`t do anyting yet"

Got letter confirming Broad band live date.... dated 9th... got it 12th.... Line is live (modem adsl light etc)... TalkTalk won`t acccept the password they sent..... their automated password retrival service doesn`t recognise the phone line as a Talk Talk line.... called them... when I got into the que and waited 20mins... got through to everyones favourite... an Indian Script reading call centre....... guess what their excuse was........

"Our screen hasn`t been updated, I can`t do anyting yet"

Ohhhhhhhhhh they seem a superb service.........

I am very sceptical with BT involved with this.Hats off to Charles for trying where others have been failed by BT.I enquired switching from NTL who`s prices are now not competative to this service.Like so many headline prices the price talk talk quote is unreasonable with all the stealth charges; the annualised charges quoted to me over 18 months works out at £28.99 per month with BT involved. This is not cheap,it`s even as expensive as poor quality service provider NTL could match.

I am contemplating the next generation technology before locking myself into an 18 month contract anyone signed up for now.com.Least the price you see is what you get!!! Like the tt not all the country is covered and there is an installation wait in some areas. But least you do NOT need a landline and the modem is free with the contract for 12 months!

Anyone signed up yet?

The broadband call centre for Talk Talk is based at newly acquired offices in Preston.
They are currently in the middle of a big recruitment drive, so maybe things will get better.

Be careful with TalkTalk and other cheap packages. I have always said that cheap is not better. Why? Well, rubbish like TalkTalk do NOT have backup DNS servers as they are expensive (hence you are charged a slightly lower price) so if that fails then rebooting a DNS server takes a long time to resolve the DNS addresses as it needs to wait for propagation from a root DNS server of which there are very few around the World (I can explain if anyone wants to). Companies like Pipex and Plusnet use backup DNS servers hence are slightly more expensive.

I know TalkTalk have had many failures in the last few months. They really are pathetic with the customer service to match. No backup DNS so if it fails expect a day loss of internet each time it fails.
