Page 1 of Phone Socket On Modem??

I see there is a socket marked phone on most modems.

Is this for an internet phone or could you connect any phone with the correct cable?

Get yourself the correct adaptor and you can plug in any domestic phone. I suspect that the PC has to be ON for the phone to work via the modem.

I think the phone socket is directly wired through from the input and you shouldn`t have to have the PC on for it to work.

Yeah, mine had this. It just allows you to use the telephone when you`re not connected to the internet (works when the PC`s off too).
