Record Player for 78s

flyingmonkey (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 8th February 2006, 18:11

Hi

My mate wants to get a record player that will play 78s. It`s for his Gran`s 80th. He has seen one in Richer Sounds for £90.

Can anyone help, please?

Thanks

Nick

I may be wrong, and this isn`t going to be very helpful, but I`m sure I`ve seen cheap record players advertised in things like "What`s on TV".

I`m sure they play 78, 45 and 33, and have built in amp and speakers, so probably don`t sound too hot, but then an old 78 being listened to buy an 80year old probably doesn`t need the greatest amp in the world (queue insults from elitist vinyl fanboys ;) )

I think they use as their selling point "No need to buy all your favourite LPs on CD, just buy this record player".

If not a page advert in the tv guide, it may have been in the little suppliment that comes in it.

Sorry, not much help at all.

You could try Pastimes.
