HD DVDs are they region coded??

Hi there

Can anyone tell me if HD DVDs are region coded I have read several articles that say they aren`t region coded, can anyone tell me if this is true or not?

Some are, some are not. Go to this website and it`ll tell you which ones are region 0;

Really? At the moment I thought they weren`t bothering to region code HD-DVD? BD stuff is, but even a lot of those are coded for all three regions.

No they are region free, bought many from U.S online

Currently all HDDVD titles are region free .

Its not even been mentioned what the regions would be if it was used

Say I bought a HD DVD would I have to replace my sound system to play dolby digital plus and various other HD soundtrack?
