HDMI Connections for PS3 and Sky HD

marixon (Competent) posted this on Monday, 19th February 2007, 07:24

I`ve just gone out and ordered the New PS3 - which I believe I can connect to my Samsung 42" Plasma HDTV with a HDMI Cable?

My query is, if I decide to subscribe to Sky HD later this year, is the connection HDMI as well, as my Samsung Plasma only has 1 HDMI slot?

As a side note for all you techies who can answer this question, I currently have Sky+ connected via a Scart Socket, and an XBox 360 connected by the normal XBox 360 Connections - so the HD Connections being used by the XBox 360 are not available.

Is there something like a HDMI splitter, so you can connect 2 into 1 - like Scart does?

Ta very muchly

I work at currys and we sell a Logik HDMI splitter. It is a manually switched box that allows 4 connections to a single HDMI socket. It retails at £29.99. I believe there are other splitters on the market but this is the only one I`ve seen in the shops.

Hi there

I have the same problem but I ordered one off EBAY for £38.48 but this includes a remote control to do the switching. Also if you have a sound system that only has one optical ouput as mine did you can buy an optical switcher on EBAY for £7.40.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks Ratopall - I wondered if something like that existed. Kinda steep pricing though for a Spliter Box. Maybe it`s a little more `technical` than the same thing used by Scart Boxes?

and dont forget that the splitter boxes usually dont come with a HDMI cable so you will need to buy another one of them as well (unless you have a spare of course).
