Any satellite experts out there???

bytemaster (Elite) posted this on Monday, 4th December 2006, 23:39

I am looking for a satellite PVR to work with Sky, but not a Sky+ box. I have done some research and realise that a genuine Sky card will work in a Dragon Cam, and I believe that the soft-cam in a Dreambox will also work with a Sky card. My problem is that this is about as far as I have got. Can anybody offer further advice or point me to a suitable competent supplier?

The first problem you will have is that the SKY card will need to be in a SKY box to get verified every so often to keep it active, this is done by sky every so often and under agreement or your card will be de-activated ! You are right with regards to using a Dragon or Dreambox with the correct emulator !

Yes I had read about that, but I am sure that I also read that one of the alternative solutions could even do the `phone home` malarkey. I belive it was the Dreambox, but not certain.

You obviously know what I am looking for, can you suggest a more appropriate forum where I can get the information I need?
