hi i dont know if a sky box is the same as a cable box but i connected my liteon to the cable box using a scart from the cable box to the liteon and a scart from the liteon to the tv.. to record from the box use the scource button on the liteon remote until you get to scart then everything from your box should be going through your liteon recorder. as i said already i have my telewest box hooked up this way and it works fine. hope this is some help to you.

Come on ! I`m as thick as two short planks but mine worked first time on Thursday. Seriously I just connected via VCR scart at the back of the Sky box to the 5001 and bingo ! Have you done it yet ?
I`m getting good results on SP being the 2 hour option, I`ve used both DVR - RW 9for multi sessions) and DVR from start to finish, very good. Will try the timer function tomorrow night. Have hacked the multi-region as per this site, no problems,

Regards

hi thanks topbanana but still no joy am i missing something here?
my connections are as follows i have the ariel cable plugged to the ariel in of the 5001 and then the ariel out of the 5001 to the tv`s ariel in
i then have the 5001 scart out plugged to the scart in of my tv i then have the sky box scart vcr out plugged in to the av1 scart input on my tv.
i also have av2 on my tv and s-video.
when i then enter setup and set the scan to auto it picks up all the tv channels but not the sky box why?
and when i also turn the 5001 on it does not automatically change the tv over so i can see the dvd`s menu screen.
but if i plug the sky box direct in to any of the scart leads on the bag of my tv it will auto change over to sky.
please can you help?
I must be very very very thick!!

`cause you haven`t got the sky digibox connected in the RF loop.

Correct link would be:
Aerial from roof/loft to Sky RF IN, Sky RF Out to DVD Recorder RF IN, DVD Recorder RF out to TV aerial in.

Although, thats only used for a BACKUP recording system, as you`d always record Sky from the scart it`s connected to.

Hi

If you have solved the problem already just ignore this...

On the back of the skybox, connect the scart to the one called "VCR SCART"
and the other end to the "SCART IN" on your liteon , Which in your case is the top scart

Make sure the sky is on

then on your liteon remote press the "Source" button (bottom left) to cycle through your inputs (keep on pressing button till sky comes up )

Hope this helps
