surround sound for dvd player???

Could anyone tell me if the schnieder 857 dvd can use 5.1 surround sound speakers???
and if so how would you link it up to the dvd player?? also how would you set up the speakers in the settings menu on the dvd?? can anyone tell me as i have just bought a 5.1 surround sound system and i am having trouble setting it up??

What`s the speaker package you`re referring to?

If it`s an `active` system (ie with an inbuilt amplifier - usually within the subwoofer box) then all you need to do is to hook your dvd up directly to it.

If not, you`ll need an AV amp.
