I UNDERSTAND THAT THE PIONEER 636 HAS BUILT IN D T S DECODER IF I CONNECT THE DVD TO TOSH DIG. TV VIA A COAXIAL LEAD WILL I BE ABLE PLAYDISCS WHICH HAVE DTS

I don`t think you can do this. All it means is the DVD player can decode DTS and output the signal. You still need an amp to drive the speakers. Does the Tosh have 5.1 inputs ? If it does, the TV can act as an amp.

You have the same tv as me.
The tv has a Dolby Digital decoder built in, and therefore will decode a Dolby Digital signal from almost any dvd player with either an optical or coax digital output. Forget about DTS, which I gather is just a slight variation of Dolby Digital anyway.
