STAR WARS DVDs

Nick Dickens (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 9th October 2002, 18:20

Sorry to be a party pooper, but this has to be stated, THERE ARE NO AS YET NO (read that) NO STAR WARS DVDs OF THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY. THEY ARE ALL ILLEGAL.

They are all illegal bootlegs dubbed from the video tapes.

If this doesn`t convince you, remember the hubub in the news this past summer of the ILLEGAL copies of the Star Wars episode II DVDs or the Spider-Man DVDs that are illegally made by organised gangs of criminals who use the monies from the sale of these DVDs to finace their trade in child prostitution and drug trafficking.

Regardless of George Lucas` personal stance of when (if ever these films come out on DVD) it gives no one the right to try to pass off these DVDs from the Far East as legal, or in anyway legitimate (they ain`t).

The governments of these countries don`t have the resources to stop the trade and they rely on us in the West to not buy them.
Remember that when you sit down with the children to watch Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones, The Lion King, or Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets on illegal DVDs. Someone else`s kids have suffered and died for this.

Of course these DVDs may be legal, but after exhaustive research George Lucas and 20th Century Fox has stated there are NO DVDs beyond the Episode 1 and the upcoming Episode 2 DVDs.

Sorry to be a party pooper too but WE KNOW THAT ALREADY. You had to do exhaustive research to find that out? Well done! BTW what has started this rant? I cant see any posts stating that there are any legit DVDs of the original trilogy.

Somebody needs to take a chill pill. I don`t think there is a single person on these boards that didn`t already know that. But you make a valid point. Piracy is bad. Lucas is rich. But still a dick (please release the OT on DVD). At least Episode 2 on DVD will ease the pain. AOTC ROCKED!!!!!!

Sounds like someone has swallowed FACT`s anti-piracy propaganda hook, line and sinker. All this talk of drug trafficking, child prostitution etc. is completely ridiculous and there`s no evidence to support this - it`s just emotional blackmail. You might as well say pirates rape grannies and strangle little puppy dogs.

Yes, piracy is a bad thing, but people don`t need this rammed down their throats along with made-up facts. I`m sure folk can make up their own minds.

Many of the bootleg discs are actually copies of the Laserdisc Special Edition released a few years back so while not quite being as good as DVD in terms of picture, they are however better quality than their official VHS counterparts. Not that I condone anyone buying them OH HELL NO!

Come on George give us the films NOW!

BTW I have read the Indiana Jones Trilogy should be released on DVD by the end of next year incase you didn`t already know.....

Hear Hear Mr Bosh. I couldn`t wait untill 2006 so I bought the customary pack of 3 for £32 and I have to say that the sound and picture were good.
Mind you the moment I finished watching them I stuffed them in the waste disposal

I stand corrected about the thread, but I still think it is a rant.

Sorry Mike - look it up, that is where most of my research was directed - better still speak to the home office or look at the governments websites on it.
