Has there been an all in one DVD freeview Dvd player invented?

isobelb (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 29th December 2006, 18:19

I am looking for a DVD recorder with Hard Drive, Twin Tuner & Freeview. I want to beable to get freeview, watch one channel & record another at same time & also beable to play my own DVDs, CDs. There doen`t seem to be an all in one invented YET ! Theres either a freeview box where you have a twin tuner & hard drive or a separate DVD player. I want to eliminate all the extra cluter with having just ONE Box which has both freeview & can play my own DVDc, CDs . Anyone know of one out there?

a HTPC (Home Theatre PC) would do what you require

yes but this would cost around £400 to put together. a price which i would do without and make do with the clutter.
until that is component prices come down and they can be put together at a better price

Panasonic has one analogue and one digital tuner. Well rated machine.

.....but the analogue tuner is only really there if you live in a non-Freeview area. It can only access one at a time. At least you have the option though - unlike most other machines out there...

Not a bargain but my dad has just purchased the Sony RDR-HXD560 DVD Recorder / HDD Recorder.

This has freeview, an 80gb hard disk and a dvd recorder built in. We are very pleased with it and would reccomend it to anyone, its fantastic.

Wouldnt recommend a Panasonic because anything you record on it will only playback in a Panasonic DVD recorder, had one myself which I bought a Tesco and took it back, wouldnt even playback in a computer drive. They use a system called CPRM(copywrite protection media)to prevent piracy
