This was an excellent bargain earlier today, but sadly now all gone from the O2 website, my wife was fortunate enough to order one earlier as her phone was getting somewhat long in the bluetooth (bad bad joke). :/

Thanks for the post!

EDIT= sorted now, the o2 site must have been having a funny one, it`s ok now :)

hi :)

my 3230 came today, but it didn`t come in a proper box, & didn`t have ANY of the standard accesories that normaly come with this phone, ie, i just got the charger & the phone itself,, No headphones or memory card, (this model should come with the standard stereo nokia headphones & a 32meg rsmmc memory card)

is this normal with refurbs ?????? as it didn`t say anything on the website about it being sold short ? & o2 have convieniently removed it now >:(

any help greatfully recieved.

just got off the phone with them (after being on hold for over half an hour) & the lovely & obviously well informed lady said that just because nokia themselves say the phone comes bundled with these acessories & every other website selling the phones & all the UK reviews of the phone state that the memory card & headset are included "as standard" that does not mean o2 will supply them with the phone. Regardless of wheather or not the phone is a refurb, so it`s tough s***. i then pointed out that i`d been an o2 customer since the company began (in the cellnet days) & currently there are 2 contracts in my name & one in my wifes & i`m very disatisfied with the service & what are they going to do about it ?

she said, i`ll ring you back within 45 mins, i`ll speak to a manager :¦

to her credit she rang back within 5 mins,,,,,,,, to tell me "i shouldn`t expect anything with a refurb" to which i replied that on the site they said the phone was refurbished & in "as new" condition & as such if there wher any missing components they should have stated that in the advert & info bumf when i ordered the phone as with only 6meg built into the phone it`s hard to call it a "smartphone" & as it`s sold as an mp3 player & radio the phone is not suitable for the purpose as advertised as you Cannot start the radio without the headset as the headset acts as the antena :/

i didn`t get anywhere, so the phones going back, but i`m really p***ed off about the service & lack of info, i hate having my time wasted & will end all 3 contracts as soon as i can (2 in feb but 1 runs for another 10 months)

i mean, if you bought a car from jamjar.com (are they still going ?) & it got delivered without the seats would you be happy with "ah, but we don`t supply those" :/

Rant over. but it does show you what happens when you run into problems with a company, there customer service shows the true worth of the company :(

Firstly, many thanks to the Original Poster for pointing us towards this deal.

Like a previous poster had found, the Samsung had gone but I found the 3230 offer instead.

To be fair 02 did provide a hyperlink on the advert stating their Refurb definition which I checked - basically stating that all you``re guaranteed to get was a phone and charger. As no refurb items are currently available, I can`t point you to this link at present I`m afraid.

Given the huge reduction of this Refiurb against a full price one, I judged the lack worth it however and bought the Phone.

To those who are dissapointed, the 3230 does not get very good reviews for its MP3 player and radio (mono o/p and dodgy headphones plus quite a drain on the battery) so why not get a cheap self-contained MP3 / Radio Player if that`s what you really need?

I was a bit dissapointed to hear about the lack of an RS MMC card, but 32 Mb is nothing these days. 256 or 512 mb cards are really cheap on ebay, and from what I read in the reviews, because Nokia haven`t (again) made the card slot externally reachable, you`re going to not want to keep swapping low memory cards anyway!

I just hope that when mine arrives, O2 have flashed to the latest firmware as part of the Refurb - early versions were quite flaky.

Finally, as to delivery, mine should have arrived by 5pm today - but didn`t - guess what O2 Customer Services said tonight as an explanation?

You`ll love this -

- "...as the "before 5pm" option you selected was a free option, we didn`t have to meet it..." !!!!

Again, as delivery was free anyway, I will be counting myself lucky if it does get here tomorrow!

I hope the `phone (when I get it) isn`t as flaky as DHL`s delivery!

Regards
Dig

it arrived early this morning, & tbh, the phones just something to get the wife by untill her new contract starts in feb, tbh, i`m not that impresed with the phone at all, it`s inredebly slow compared to my w800i & even the 6230, it`s running an old(ish) version of symbian os, that still hasn`t fixed the glitches with animated gifs etc (a problem that goes back to the 3650) & whilst the radio apears to be stereo, the mp3 player is MONO :/ the battery looks smaller than the 6230`s so i`m expecting nothing from it beyond a day if i`m lucky, & the n-gage mark one has vastly superior functionality, & thats 3 years old.

& it`s very reminisent of the razor v3, in that it looks really nice in photo`s but huge & ugly in real life ;)

i don`t doubt that there was a disclaimer somewhere about refurbs, but the link i followed took me directly onto the 3230 (i didn`t follow the op`s link as i had an old student offer link saved to favorites) & there was no hyperlink to any t&c`s regarding the lack of essential components, tho, i will admit that the hyperlink might not have been displayed because firefoxe often strugles with them on certain sites (another peice of software thats gonna get binned, the last update made a pigs ear of it)

yes I`m still having a bit of a rant & a rave, but i hope the O.P. doesn`t think i`m having a pop at him, i`m certainly not. & i didn`t even go for the phone in the original link, i just wanted a mooch at the deals for my missus,

on the whole i`ve had some very nice deals from o2, my w800i only costs me £20 a month (& thats got a proper mp3 player built in, that complements my archos 20gig & i-pod nano quite nicely) but thats not the point, without the missing components the phone cannot function properly, it`s not the same as not getting a spare facia & a spare battery, case etc, the missing components (i`m purposely using the word components) are critical to the use of the phone, especially the headset, but as the 3230 only has 6mb of internal memory it cannot really operate properly as a smart phone without the rsmmc, thats the whole point of it being bundled by nokia, it`s a necessity not an acessory.

the phone is still a bargain, despite it`s aged OS the screen is excellent & although slow the web & email functions are amongst the best in the sub £350 range.

i`m mainly just annoyed because the o2 website`s a real pain in the arse to navigate (unless your buying something or adding/setting mms up/buying bolt-ons/tones etc) & they really did misrepresent the way the phone was sold & the way customer services didn`t give a s***.

but i certainly mean no disrespect to the O.P. it`s not his fault o2 have acted like arses (imo ;) )

EDIT= i just had to re-type all this out again cos firefox decided to log me out as it was posting the reply >:( so thats another pile of s*** that can go in the bin >:( (sprry xfilesgurly, it`s just pants)

Sorry to hear some of you guys had trouble with O2 refurbished phones. I for one have ordered in total 4 refurbished phones from them and been happy. Firstly a Nokia 3100 for my dad for £10 a few months back that was as new, screen protector on. Secondly a Motorola V220 also as new with screen protector on (only problem was they forgot to send the manual/charger but posted those a few days later), naff phone, but sold it for £25 so made a profit!.

Then this week got both my wife and myself refurbished Samsung E720`s and very pleased with them, mine came through as new, my wife`s a slight scratch on the side and some peeling on the reflective Samsung logo, but nothing at all major particularly for the £59 each paid for them. Delivery free and prompt in all instances.

I guess the moral of the story with all this is when buying any refurbished phone that only has the manual and charger to check if the phone only comes with internal memory and not a mmc card slot as all the phones I have ordered don`t....else you won`t get such a bargain as you think when you weigh up the cost of buying the extras.

Certainly with the E720`s we have to get a data cable and headset for listening to mp3`s but with 80mb internal memory only, we are happy with them, until we run out of memory space!
