Suberb Sub Speakers @ Ebuyer - £7.99 + Free Shipping

MonkeyNut (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Monday, 7th February 2005, 21:10

My brother got his the other day, and while there is a cheaper set, they look crappy. These look the business however, with a blue glow coming from around the volume control. He had them half way up and the room was shaking. Just ordered mine... should be here by next Tuesday.

Here`s the link!!!

You should check out some of the other stuff... some great multimedia keyboards under a fiver, and a wireless one under a tenner. Order seperately though, otherwise there is a shipping surcharge.

OK, I`m tempted. However, how do they connect to your PC? All I`ve got at the back of mine are the normal line in, speakers & mic sockets, even though the MoBo manual says it supports 5.1 (something to do with support for an analogue switch :/ ).

Cheers

More details here but nowt about connectivity....sorely tempted by this, I have to say :)

Given that the company specialise in making multimedia speakers for PCs (see here I think it`s safe to assume they`ll have a standard line-in interface ?

My brother has them connected to his `puter, whether it`s a 3.5 jack or phono connectors I`m not sure. One of the reviews says they are phono (which is great if you want a nice 2.1 system for your DVD player), so I`m not sure. I have an adapter though, and they cost about £1 from most independant electrical retailers and computer fairs.

I`ll get confirmation on the connection next time I speak to my bro.

Are you absolutely positive your brother has the 2131 ? The 2133 ( a pound more) is sold out and looks pretty good too -

see here

On interconnects, a helpful buyer of the 2133 notes :

[Also, each speaker is separate, so you can use them inidvidually (e.g. plug each speaker into separate line-out sockets on a 3D-Sound Card), or just plug em into the back of the main unit and use a single plug. Input for the main unit can be two male plugs (like the ones from a DVD player or Game Console) that plug into the 2 female ports on the back, or you can use the included adaptor (2 Females -> 1 Male Plug) to plug the speakers into the back of your PC\`s Line Out or headphone socket of your TV.

so I can`t really see these being any different.

I`m sure he has the 7.99 ones, because there is one less control knob. I think the 2133 has a treble control where the 2131 hasn`t, plus, he was going to get those ones, but they haven`t had any stock for like 2 weeks. I decided I needed better sound now and not in a month or whatever, so I ordered the cheaper ones (they look better too IMHO)
