Another mispriced woolworths bargain?

Reestit Mutton (Competent) posted this on Friday, 19th November 2004, 02:05

Okay...now be VERY wary of this one as there is some uncertainty surrounding it but it seems that you can get what is called a " Pokemon Colleseum Black Bundle" for only £34.99 + £1.50 delivery from Woolworths.

Non-affiliate link:
Woolworths

Now, there is debate as to whether this is actually a mega-pack with the console included (plus other free goodies) or not.

For a start, the fact that they call it a "black bundle" (as in the colour of the console) and include a picture of the Mega Pack clearly illustrating the inclusion of a console on the box alongside the title would make you think that it does indeed include the console. They also sell the game on its own separately.

However, the fact that the price is consistent with that of a game, the description is clearly just talking about the game and the wieght quoted (135 grammes) is that of a game on its own might make you wonder. Not to mention the fact that they don`t use the official term "mega pack" - i.e. the bundle may well be the game plus something else, just not a console.

To make matters worse, this isn`t the only place where this mistake has been made. Tescos and Virgin Megastores have also made exactly the same "mistake":

Non-affiliate links:
Tesco
Virgin Megastore

With Tesco, the quoted price is £33.24 + £1.64 for delivery. However, there is a £5 off £30 in Entertainment discount code (XX-CJVM) reducing the final price to £29.88 inclusive of delivery.

With Virgin Megastore, the quoted price is £32.99 inclusive of delivery. However, there is a £2 off Rolling Stones "Hot Licks" discount voucher (RSEMI2LIVELICKS) that also works with any other item on their site, including this one, thus bringing their final price down to £30.99.

The questions you need to ask yourself are:
(1) Do I think this is a mistake? (almost certainly)
(2) Do I think that any of these retailers will honour this deal? (probably not)
(3) If not, is there a risk that I might just end up with the game? (maybe)

Anyway, if you`re willing to take the risk, why not have a go and choose one of the above retailers. However, do check what the returns policy for each retailer is first (just in case you end up with only a game that you can`t use). For instance, Woolies will refund instore if you want.

good luck,

According to this site, "Included in the Pokémon pak is a copy of Pokémon Colosseum, a sleek black Nintendo GameCube and a Memory Card 59 - all at the fantastic estimated retail price of around £89!".

This could well be worth trying!

I`ve ordered one.

If it`s just the game, I can return it at any Woolworth`s store within 28 days, so I`ll just not open the box :)

Cheers

Ordered from Tesco ... the worst that can happen is its just the game + you have to send it back, funny though that the game on its own is also on the site for £29 ... lets wait + see .... :D
