Dear Me,

It turns out that the old LG hack you used worked on the new model. You should share that information with others though:

Click the HOME button on the remote with the unit in 480i resolution
Click the setup page
Click Start
Click TV Aspect
highlight the 16x9 wide aspect ratio
enter on remote control this coded sequence:
1397139

Edit specific "Options"

Option 2: 35 (enables Divx/Xvid playback)
Option 4: ff (enables Vcd and SVCD playback)
Option 5: ff (enables region free playback (region 0) DVD playback)
Option 6: ce (enables Insignia brand startup logo on boot)
Option 6: c0 (enables LG brand startup logo on boot)

Hack for LG RC199H DVD/VCR Recorder Combo

As far as I can tell, after having tried it on three machines, the 0000000 hack does NOT work.

Here is the one that does:

1. Make sure the unit is in 480i resolution.
2. Go to the SET-UP page
3. Go to the START page
4. Go to TV ASPECT
5. Highlight the 16 x 9 option
6. On the remote control enter 1397139
7. Go to option 5 and enter ff. This is the code for region-free.
8. Hit return to save.
9. Turn the power off.
10. Turn the power back on and you should be fine.

P.S. After having done this, for some reason, the disc tray refused to open and shut properly. Unplug the machine. Pause. Plug it back in and you should be fine. I have no idea if there is a connection between the two but just in case there is you will know what to do.

Hi. Mine plays PAL Region 2 just fine. I can`t offer any other suggestions if the code listed does not work. Just make sure you are doing everything in order. I`m at work and can`t really call right now but keep trying. I`ll check this forum as often as I can to try to help you. Did you get to the options screen?

The only thing that is missing here is that in order to scroll through the options you hit the ENTER key. The arrows will not scroll even though it seems that they should.

Hack for LG RC797T DVD Recorder/Video Cassette Recorder

Hello. Could someone supply me with a multi region hack for an LG RC797T?

I tried the one listed here (the seven 0`s) just for fun but it didn`t work.

Also checked that LG region free website but mine wasn`t listed.
