Verbatim 25 tub of DVD+/- R now 5.99 @ sainsburys

Local branch of sainsburys had these Verbatim 16X blanks at a clearance price of £5.99 for a 25 disk spindle tub.

Both + and - discs were available.

Pioneer DV444 - How do you set PAL60 mode?

Hi Folks,

I have a small problem with a friend`s pioneer DV444. They recently got some region 1 discs and playback on the TV is black and white. Now the TV has scart, but isn`t wired for RGB, so the 444`s outputting in video through the scart. The DVD player is multiregion, and I`d guess that the mod is set to output pal discs as pal and ntsc as ntsc. However there was a way of enabling PAL60 mode on the player, which should solve the problem, but googling for a solution is nogo.

Any help please?

Regards,

Abraxas

RE: 50 DVD-R spindle packs...£9.01 from Staples!!! - Now BOGOF!

I think that the promotion isn`t due to start until next week, but the POS software has the info programmed in for this week?

I only found out because I`d bought 2 on wednesday and saw when I got home that it was marked "discount - 9.01".So in again on thursday to check, and yes, it is BOGOF.

Guess they`ll be flying off the shelves. Watch out though - they mix the +R with the -R tubs on the pallet, so double check what you`re buying!

Sorry Andy, but if you hadn`t posted, then I wouldn`t have gone in and bought 2 tubs, (and more) ;) and started this thread... .

RE: 50 DVD-R spindle packs...£9.01 from Staples!!! - Now BOGOF!

Hi Curious

They are pleomax discs with the optodiscor8 dye.

Don`t have a catalogue sorry, but the receipt shows a code of 380347 for the DVD-R discs.

50 DVD-R spindle packs...£9.01 from Staples!!! - Now BOGOF!

Well I don`t know about the Samsung +R discs, but I went to my local staples today, (Thursday), and asked for a price check on two tubs, saying that I saw on the `net that it was "buy one get one free".

So the cashier scans them through, and sure enough, 2 x 50 spindles for 9.01!

Dunno if it`s a local glitch or what, but worth checking out!

RE: 50 DVD-R or DVD+R spindle packs...£9.01 from Staples!!!

Well, they seem to burn fine at both 4x and 8x speeds on my pioneer 107, though there is an interesting caution on the side of the tub stating that using recorders that don`t support 8x writing speed may cause writing errors. It suggests a firmware update to your recorder.

Using Dvd info, here`s what a Samsung DVD-R is:

The interesting thing is that they seem to be 4x , not 8x rated.....
