RE: DVD-R - Disc Speed - Help

Some folks have had problems using the faster discs. I doubt if you`ll damage the recorder, but, reliabilty of the recording may suffer. I wouldn`t use them, and I don`t use them.

RE: Stupid me set my DMR-E50 to "remote control 2"

Assuming it`s the same as the E55 - To change the remote back to 1...While pressing the Enter button on the remote, hold the 1 button down for 3 seconds. Since I have 2 Pannys, I use type 3 all the time. If you want to go back to type 2....Hold the enter button down and the 2 button down.

RE: JPEGs on Panasonic DMR E55

The E55 supports VCD and DVD-V as long as it`s written on a DVD-RAM, DVD-R or a CD-R or CD-RW that`s finalized.

RE: Problem with Panasonic DVD E85 (DVD-R won`t stop "playing" and no other functions work

Unplug it. It`s designed to withstand power failures. When you power up after 10 minutes, don`t do anything until it reintializes.

I wouldn`t get excited unless it doesn`t correct the problem, or it happens again. These recorders (any brand) are a little sensative.

RE: Panasonic DMR-E85 Channel Tuning Problem

Go to your input source (L1,L2,etc). To add channel 18, key in 18 and then ENTER on the Panny remote. Then hit the ADD/DLT key on the remote. If the channel happens to be already there it will delete it.

RE: PanasonicDMRE55- DVDRAM problems

This happened to me recently. I was recording various shows on DVD-RAM and for some reason one started this pixalating. It apparently was done during recording. The show before it was OK and the ones after it OK. I was adding a show to a pre-recorded DVD-RAM that still had a show left on it.

Once in awhile when I first load a disc, my E55 won`t recognize it. I reload it and everything is OK. I think it`s caused by a sloppy load by me. If that disc isn`t sitting correctly in the tray it can cause problems. My computer, and my other DVD player, do the same thing once in awhile.

This failure IMHO, may be caused by this. That laser has to hit the target just right. It would be interesting to see if it ever happens while using the Caddy. I don`t have any Caddies.

RE: Panasonic DMR-E85 Channel Tuning Problem

Sure

If it`s like the E55, just key in the channel number and hit ADD/DLT on the remote. Channels can be deleted also.

RE: Big Problem with Panasonic DMR E50 ...screwed up output settings now im blind !!!

The hardware reset is to unplug the machine for 10 minutes, then plug it back in. Do not just turn it off. This forces you to reset up the machine.

RE: PanasonicDMRE55- DVDRAM problems

At SP, using Panny media, there should be no problems. Try viewing several commercial DVD`s using the machine to make sure hook up leads are OK. I suspect either a lead problem or possibly a defective machine. There is no better quality media than DVD-RAM. It is the most robust of the media and should last the longest.

Make sure the leads are good and tight at all ends.

My E55 records great, even at EP. I normally use LP, with no problems.

S75 and E55

Got an S75 for Xmas. I now can record programs with my E55, using DVD-RAM, edit them, combine them, whatever, until I have them just right, then burn my custom DVD-R media. Oh, How sweet it is.........

I have all the TV`s coaxed to a central patchboard where the 2 Pannys, satallite, Outside antenna, and VCR`s reside. I can patch any device to any TV. Some of us get serious about this stuff.....lol!

If anyone is building a new home, they might consider pre-wiring this type of setup. No need for seperate DVD players and SAT boxes in different rooms. Had this patch board for years, ready for the next high tech gizmo.....

RE: Panasonic DVD Video Recorder DMR-E85H Problem

I doubt any software that needs upgrading. This Forum would be full of E85 problems. There is an Icon that is displayed on the display while the recorder thinks it has a program to record. You might check just before recording time, that it is present. This may lead you in the right direction. Your last post suggests probably some little quirk.

RE: Panasonic DVD Video Recorder DMR-E85H Problem

If you`re setting up a timed recording, are you making sure the recorder is off when the time comes for it to start recording. It must be off.

RE: Another DMRE55 owner looking for some help

I use nothing but Panasonic Discs in my E55. My contention is, if it`s impotant enough to record on a DVD-R, it`s important enough to use quality media. I have had zero problems with Panny media.

RE: Digital camera question

Just ordered a P150, can`t wait. Should go along great with my Sony computer that has a Memory stick slot. Keeping up with technology is my vice. This makes my 5th digital camera.......lol!

RE: E55 only responding to top and bottom 3 rows of remote control keys

After changing the batteries, if it still doesn`t respond, try going to page 14 of your manual and try resetting up the remote.

RE: From RAM to DVD-R

May not work.
Your software, if it finalizes the Disc, may not finalize it where the Panny can read it.
In this case it might play on the PC, but not on the E55. Only way to tell, is to try it.
Good Luck......

RE: Question for E55 owners - time search

If using a DVD-RAM Disc, you can create a Chapter at the time or times you want to return to later. Using Chapters allows you do to some neat stuff. This does not work on DVD-R media, since the Chapters are pre-set.

Be careful fooling with Chapters. I accidently erased a program I wanted to keep by getting a little too creative....lol!..... :D

RE: Blank Discs

Using an DVD-RW or +RW, if you have the time left on the disk it will append the new show onto the disk. If not enough time, it will over-write the old program. If you have the appropiate options set.

I agree with Nick, get a Panny DVD-R or another quality brand, and try again.

RE: Toshiba DR1 or Panasonic DMRE55 DVD recorder dilemma - HELP!!!

The E55 does not send video via the rf out coax connection. This is stated in the Manual on page 7. To get out of this limitation, use an RF modulator (about $20 at your local electronics store). Works fine.

I have this wired on mine for all the TV`s that don`t have video inputs in my house. Now, if I could just fix that stupid Remote Control Record button....... :D

RE: DVD-RAM disc recommendations for Panasonic DMRE55

The Panasonic discs are a good choice. Using the caddy is only useful if you`re going to let folks (like the kids that don`t know how to handle discs) use your DVDs. You only need a couple, since DVD-RAM is so duable. Use the DVD-R media to archie stuff or share stuff.

Enjoy your new Panny....

RE: DVD-RAM more proof. Just lend it out because more people have DVD-RAM recorders.

Panasonic recorders use the DVD-RAM media as a small Hard Drive. With it`s superior qualities, a Panny user can have virtually one DVD-RAM disk and use it for the life of the recorder and use all the features of the recorder. It`s not meant to be shared. If sharing is wanted, the Panny uses the DVD-R media, which is the most compatable media.

A lot of users have no need for a hard drive, nor, want to pay the price for a recorder with a Hard Drive. Hard Drives are also the weakest part of a device when it comes to failures.

IMHO!

RE: Panasonic DMR-E55

1)The Panasonic DVD medias are very good
2)Yes, but why pay $300 for a recorder, then scrimp on recording media
3)A PC with a compatable ram/-r recorder
4)yes

RE: Does the basic DVD-RW Video Mode have the same basic rename, split and erase options as DVD+RW?

There should be no difference between -rw and +rw, unless it`s a quirk of a particlar recorder.
Saying that, there is no guarantee that a recorded media will work on your other players/Pc, even it they say they support rw.
The only real test is record a media and try it on all devices. Brands of media are of different quality. Stick with quality DVD media.

RE: Panasonic e85 question

Sure have, on my E55 ( pretty sure same as E85). A stupid design flaw. Worse than the stupid remote control record button. But them Pannys do record a nice video.......

RE: Panasonic e85 question

While recording, the Panny doesn`t pass video thru the RF connection. It does via the video connection. If your TV doesn`t have video inputs, use an RF modulater on the video leads to the TV.

It should, using the erase function. Unless the disc is protected.

RE: Panny e85 DVD-R won`t play on my client`s machine

Sounds like compatability with their machines and the DVD-R media. If their machines will play DVD-R it could be the brand of media you`re using.

RE: Panasonic DMR-E85H Question

This would take a recorder with 2 tuners. The Panny has 1 tuner.
