RE: Sony Camcorder problem

Shame that. I think the technical term they use at Sony Japan is, it`s Borrocksed.

RE: For Sale: 44 INCH D.L.P. TV -FOR SALE

If you don`t mind my asking, why are you getting rid. Would the guarantee be transferable?

RE: Sony Camcorder problem

I`ve seen this before!
Try removing the battery and then replacing it a few seconds later then open the door, repeat a few times, works quite often. If this doesn`t work it needs servicing. Good luck.

RE: Oasis, City Of Manchester Stadium..

Hi. Took some pictures from down the front. Some are a bit shaky, 60,000 reasons for that.

RE: Camcorder advice - I`m out of touch!!

Maybe I should rephrase...
In my opinion they are not very reliable any longer.
An opinion formed from working in a busy camcorder retailer for the last 16 years and just recently (1 year or so) about half of all our returns are JVC that have chewed tapes up or constantly show `clean heads` message.

RE: Camcorder advice - I`m out of touch!!

Just about any Sony will do fine. Software is known to be a weak link unfortunately, but you can use third party stuff and a firewire link. Don`t get a JVC always going wrong since they moved production away from Japan. Interesting username you have there! Roses or IB fan?

RE: SHIMMERING ON A PLASMA ?

I have a Philips 37. What is the shimering like?
If it is a kind of banding on areas of picture with little or no contrast when the camera pans. example when there is a light coloured plain wall in the backbround you see several layers of different shades rather than a smooth finish or maybe a close up of a face which is filmed out of focus and panned( BBC Casualty does this often ).
If this is the issue you have I`m not sure what causes it or if there is a cure but it affects quite a lot of plasmas even different makes and I think I recall also seeing it on an Lcd, could be wrong there.

Anyoune else got any ideas?

RE: Philips HDD120 (20GB MP3 Player) £166.95

These are one of the most unreliable heaps of junk i`ve ever come across. AVOID

RE: Digital Camera review website?

DPreview is usually bang on.

If you want a great camera for £250 try Dixons for a genuine effective 7.2 megapixel Sony p150. I just bought one today. Absolute stunning and a joy to use. Bargain price memory sticks there too.

Portable DVD that does it all?

Anyone know of a portable dvd player which plays vcd, mpegs drd recordable formats & just about anything else you can think of?

RE: Best deal on Sky Digital?

Sky Plus has a lot more flexibility, digital outputs and the like.

It`s expensive at the mo, but I have it on good authority that Sky are really gonna push this hard, smash the price and scrap the extra £10 a month rip off.

RE: Advice Needed - ACOUSTIC ENERGY AEGO P5

I was going to buy one of these but got 3 aego 2`s and a Marantz 4300(£200 from Richer Sounds) .Dolby 6.1 for the same sort of money as a P5 setup and it`s a lot more flexible. I added a MJ Acoustics sub a little later, adding a lot more bottom end clout.

RE: Crazy for ditching seperates for DAVS550? Westy? Anyone?

I was tempted by a Sony 550 after the aledged "reviews". Reviews? More like paid advertisements. Bass is flat and there are no adjustments to the tone at all. I got rid and am now running A Marantz DTS 4300 decoder and 3 sets of AE Aego2s. Massive Improvement.

RE: Building a surround system.

Finally got it all up and running.
Try Richer Sounds For Marantz SR4300 £199. + if your`e quick Currys for Aego 2s at >£80 a pop. Spent a mint on cables to wire it all up though. Sounds ace. Maybe not quite as detailed as my previous system, a Marantz CD10, Cyrus 7 and Acoustic Energy AE1s but not bad considering the whole lot cost less than each one of my previous components. I`m thinking of bolstering the low bass by swapping one of the Ae subs for maybe a Rel q150 or perhaps a Quake anyone tried these out?

Thanks for your Advice.

Video card RGB TV-Out

Anyone out there know of a video card with RGB not S-video TV-out. I`ve ran out of S-video sockets on my tv but have a RGB enabled one.

Thanks

Building a surround system.

I`m putting a system together and like the idea of using a few Aego 2 kits rather than a P5 which is not as flexible and lacks Pro Logic II. I already have one Aego 2 which sounds great. I tried a Sony Davs 550 and was not impressed.I was thinking of getting a Yamaha 800 decoder but it doesn`t have DPL II, are these available in silver? anyone heard if they`re bringing out a replacement with DPL II? do I really need a separate amp. I may go for a Marantz 7300 but it`s BIG. and how can 3 Aego systems be run with just 2 subs as suggested by westy Any ideas?
Cheers
